I’m partnering exclusively with a long-established engineering business in Forfar to recruit a Business Development Manager who can unlock the full commercial potential of their on-site galvanising plant. This is a standout opportunity for someone with industry awareness, technical curiosity, and the drive to build a new revenue stream within a respected Scottish manufacturer.
Our client is flexible in terms of hours, working pattern however you need to be based on the East coast as this is the geographical area they are looking to cover.
The Role
- Develop and manage relationships with customers across engineering, fabrication, construction, and manufacturing
- Identify and convert new commercial opportunities to fully utilise the galvanising plant
- Promote galvanising services to both existing and new customers, positioning the capability effectively in the market
- Visit customer sites and represent the business at relevant industry events and networking forums
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure seamless coordination from enquiry to delivery
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity and potential growth sectors
- Produce regular updates on business development activity, pipeline and performance
- Support pricing strategies to ensure competitiveness while protecting margins
Ideally you come from an engineering, fabrication, coatings or galvanising background or you’ve worked closely with these sectors. You’re commercially minded with a natural ability to build trust and long-term customer relationships
- You’re proactive, self-driven and comfortable developing a service offering that is not yet fully maximised
- You’re confident engaging with customers on technical processes (full training provided where needed)
- You can work flexibly with minimal supervision, managing your own diary and customer activity
- You’re motivated by growth, opportunity and helping a respected local business expand its services
