Quality Systems Engineer - West Lothian

We are supporting a well established engineering business operating within a regulated, safety critical environment to recruit an experienced Quality Systems Engineer.

This is a genuinely hands on systems role, suited to someone who enjoys owning, improving, and embedding a Quality Management System across multiple operational sites. You will work closely with operational, engineering, and leadership teams to ensure the QMS remains robust, compliant, and adds real value to the business rather than simply meeting compliance requirements.

While the organisation operates across more than one location, the emphasis is firmly on practical quality systems within a mechanical engineering context.

The Role

You will take responsibility for the ongoing development, maintenance, and improvement of the Quality Management System in line with recognised international standards such as ISO 9001 and related frameworks. The role involves balancing governance with practicality, ensuring systems support safe, efficient, high quality delivery.

Responsibilities include maintaining and updating QMS documentation, conducting gap analysis when standards or customer requirements change, and ensuring documents and processes are updated accordingly. You will plan and deliver internal audits, track corrective actions, and provide clear, meaningful insight to senior management through data analysis and reporting.

You will also play an active role in management reviews, non conformance analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives, working collaboratively across engineering, operations, and support functions. Occasional supplier or site audits may form part of the role.

You will come from a mechanical engineering or manufacturing environment. This is essential. You will already have experience working with formal quality systems in a regulated or compliance driven setting and be comfortable engaging with engineers, production teams, and senior stakeholders.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are important, as is the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and interface with stakeholders across different sites. Lead Auditor qualification is advantageous but not essential if you have solid hands on audit experience.

What’s on Offer

This is an opportunity to step into a role with genuine ownership and influence within an engineering led organisation that values quality as part of how it operates. You will have the scope to shape systems, drive improvement, and work closely with senior stakeholders across the business.

A competitive salary and benefits package is available, along with long term stability and the chance to work in a technically interesting mechanical engineering environment.
