Clas-SiC Wafer Fab Limited, is a dedicated manufacturing facility for Silicon Carbide Power Semiconductors based in Lochgelly, Fife. Due to increasing demand and ongoing expansion, they are seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to join their Wafer Fabrication Manufacturing Excellence Engineering Team.
The Role
The primary focus of this position is to develop, specify, and maintain manufacturing processes to achieve 'best in class' on-time delivery of products.
Essential Experience
To be successful, candidates must have prior experience in a semiconductor wafer fabrication manufacturing environment or similar and specialist knowledge of Etch processes. Key experience includes:
- Developing, defining, and maintaining semiconductor Etch processes.
- Operating across various organisational levels and departmental boundaries.
- Analysing and resolving process-related issues within a high-technology or semiconductor manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
This role, reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, will require close collaboration with the Equipment, Test, and Facilities Engineering teams. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining manufacturing processes for Silicon Carbide-based diode and MOSFET devices, with a focus on Etch process stages.
- Troubleshooting and resolving process issues to ensure optimal Etch process availability and performance.
- Identifying and eliminating yield, cycle time, and capacity bottlenecks specific to Etch processes.
- Analysing Etch process performance data to drive improvements and implement corrective actions.
- Documenting safety, quality, and compliance processes, and ensuring clear operational guidelines.
- Providing technical coaching and instruction related to Etch processes to peers and colleagues.
- Supporting the development of Clas-SiC’s technology roadmap and contributing to the establishment of intellectual property.
- Contributing to cost reduction initiatives and factory performance optimisation.
What We're Looking For

- Proven process engineering experience in semiconductor wafer fabrication, with specific expertise in Etch process development and troubleshooting.
- Strong technical skills in defining and developing manufacturing process techniques.
- A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering or science discipline.
- A proactive and flexible approach, with a “can-do” attitude to adapt to diverse tasks beyond process engineering.
This is a day shift/back shift role.
