Our American owned start up based in Edinburgh is looking to hire and experience Principal Reliability Engineer to drive reliability engineering and testing efforts across semiconductor product development. In this critical role, you will ensure the long-term reliability and robustness of advanced semiconductor devices by developing and executing reliability strategies, testing protocols, and failure analysis processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead reliability assessments for semiconductor devices from early design phases through production, ensuring long-term durability and performance under varied operational conditions.
- Define and implement reliability test plans, including qualification and accelerated life testing (e.g., HTOL, HAST, TC, and ESD testing).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, packaging, and manufacturing, to identify potential failure modes and implement design-for-reliability principles.
- Analyze failure mechanisms, perform root cause analysis, and provide feedback to improve product design and processes.
- Develop and maintain reliability metrics, tracking field performance, and continuously improving product reliability through data-driven insights.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to reliability engineers and technicians.
- Stay current on industry reliability standards, methodologies, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and best practices in reliability engineering.
- Interface with customers to ensure compliance with reliability standards and address reliability concerns in a timely manner.
Key Qualifications:
- Education: MS/PhD in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in semiconductor reliability engineering, including reliability testing, failure analysis, and qualification processes. Any experience of working with outsourced reliability providers (e.g. MA-TEK, MASER etc) would be an advantage.
- Strong expertise in semiconductor device physics, materials, and reliability failure mechanisms.
- Proven experience with reliability testing methodologies such as HTOL, HAST, TC, ESD, and electromigration.
- Experience in root cause analysis techniques such as FMEA, FA, and Weibull analysis.
- Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership in driving reliability initiatives and guiding cross-functional teams.
- Any experience of Optical device manufacturing would be a distinct advantage
