A well-established engineering and technology organisation is looking to appoint a Facilities Engineer to support the day-to-day operation of a modern, high-spec facility in Edinburgh.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys problem-solving, takes pride in keeping things running smoothly, and can adapt across a variety of building services and maintenance tasks.
You’ll play a key part in maintaining the site’s infrastructure, supporting both planned and reactive maintenance, and ensuring facilities operate safely and efficiently.
The position offers a mix of practical, coordination, and improvement-focused work — ideal for someone who enjoys variety and being close to the action.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance across site services and equipment
- Troubleshoot faults and resolve issues to minimise disruption
- Support and oversee external contractors on-site
- Conduct routine inspections of building systems and services
- Assist with small projects, upgrades, and general site improvements
- Maintain records of maintenance activities and work orders
- Support compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement and general site upkeep
About You
This role is open to a range of backgrounds. You might come from facilities, maintenance engineering, building services, or a technical trade.
We’re particularly keen to hear from individuals with:
- Experience working with electrical and/or mechanical systems
- A practical, hands-on approach to fault finding and problem solving
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Strong communication skills and a team-focused mindset
Candidates from ex-military backgrounds (e.g. Navy, RAF, Army technical roles) are strongly encouraged to apply, especially those with experience in maintenance, engineering, or technical operations.
