Equipment/Maintenance Engineer - High technology manufacturing - Fife

Semefab is an established silicon wafer foundry based in Glenrothes, manufacturing microelectronics and MEMS devices for customers worldwide. The business supports a diverse customer base including multinationals, SMEs, start-ups and academic institutions, exporting the majority of its product into a wide range of global markets.

As part of continued investment, Semefab is strengthening its engineering capability within the fab. This opportunity would suit an Equipment Engineer or a technically strong, multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer who enjoys working with precision-controlled manufacturing equipment where performance, repeatability and process stability are critical.

The role involves maintaining specialist tools that rely on electrical control systems, instrumentation and tightly defined operating parameters, rather than large-scale mechanical plant. Direct semiconductor experience would be advantageous; however consideration would be given to engineers from other regulated or high-tech manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Diagnosing equipment issues involving electrical systems, electronics, pneumatics and precision mechanical components
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with defined procedures and schedules
  • Investigating failures, identifying root cause and implementing corrective actions
  • Supporting equipment qualification, documentation and controlled change
  • Working closely with process, manufacturing and engineering colleagues in a cleanroom environment

We are happy to consider candidates that don’t have experience in the semi-conductor industry however you will ideally have:

  • Experience maintaining technically complex, low-volume / high-value production equipment
  • HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline, or time-served experience in a regulated/high-tech environment
  • Comfortable working with procedures, documentation and quality systems
  • A methodical, analytical approach to troubleshooting and continuous improvement

Semefab are keen to hire someone who has the right technical skills to develop into the role and an individual who is an excellent cultural fit that will support the existing highly skilled team.

The role offers a fantastic benefits package and the chance to develop your career in a highly regarded industry
